Purity; continence.
It means that virtue which prevents the unlawful intercourse of the sexes; the state of purity or abstinence from unlawful sexual connection, People v. Kehoe, 123 Cal. 224, 55 P. 911, 69 Am.St.Rep. 52; actual personal virtue and character, and not a mere external reputation for chastity. People v. Weinstock, 27 N.Y.Cr.R. 53, 140 N.Y.S. 453, 457.
